FAQ's

What sort of things can herbal medicine treat?

Herbs can be of much benefit for any ailment for which you may commonly visit your local doctor including both acute and chronic conditions.

Is herbal medicine the same as homeopathy?

No. Herbs and Homeopathy are two different healing approaches.

Herbal remedies are derived from plants and some trees and work by providing certain nutrients (constituents) that alter the way that the body responds to an imbalance.  Herbs were the precursors to more than half of the current pharmaceutical drugs.  The difference from these drugs is that the herb contains numerous constituents which act in harmony, meaning that they very rarely produce any side effects - unlike many modern drugs.

Homeopathy is a system of healing based on the Principles of Similars which is "like cures like".  Homeopathic remedies are made by diluting and sucussing different substances (plant, mineral and animal) reducing them to their energetic/molecular state.

What sort of medicines will I be taking?

Herbs are prescribed in the form of tinctures (alcohol extracts), powders, teas, capsules and creams.  Tinctures are taken by measuring out a small amount of the tincture and taking with a little water - usually 3 times daily.  Powders are mixed in water. Teas are made by steeping the herbs in boiled water for 5 to 15 minutes or soaking them overnight and then simmering for a while.

How long will it take for me to see results?

Herbal medicine treatment usually involves a regime that calls for continued commitment from the client in order to be successful.  Treatment can work quickly with acute conditions but more time has to be allowed for chronic conditions that have manifested over several months or years, although relief from many symptoms can often be felt early in treatment.
